Dairy Deliciousness
The milk produced is stored in two 7,000-gallon bulk tanks. The milk is hauled to Valley Queen Cheese where the farm has marketed its milk for more than 50 years. Dairy foods like milk, cheese, and yogurt are a good source of 9 essential nutrients including calcium, protein, potassium, and Vitamin D.
Heifer & Calf Care
The Heifer Barn, located 1 mile from our dairy site, was constructed to house 2000 replacement heifers from 4 months of age to breeding age. The heifers are also housed in cross ventilated barns with fans. The Heifer Barn and the Dairy Barn are both 950x250 feet in size. There are three completed calf units to house 220 newborn calves each. Each calf barn has a state-of-the-art design along with ventilation system. The Mixing Room is for bottle preparation.
Cow Care
MoDak Dairy houses more than 2,000 cows. The cows are milked 3 times a day in a parlor that accommodates 60 cows at a time. MoDak Dairy works closely with veterinarians and a professional nutritionist to keep cows healthy. The cows are housed in a cross ventilated barn with 150 four-foot fans to keep cattle cool and comfortable. Both hoof trimming and a foot bath are used on a regular basis to keep the cows' feet in good shape. To ensure the best care for all animals, all employees follow detailed protocols.
